From The West is a boutique event & decor rental company based on Vancouver Island and the Sea to Sky, specializing in rentals for weddings, milestones, and other momentous occasions.
We create one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted pieces that are made to be remembered. Our unique collection was designed with inspiration from the west, to add a bit of magic to the moments that matter most.
Who We Are
Hey there! My name is Zoya and I am the face and Founder of From The West. I’m an island girl at heart, currently living in Squamish, BC now on my second island-based business endeavor.

Back in 2018 my family and I started Island Woodwork, a business built on our shared love for cribbage and fine woodwork, and a passion for sustainability. In the fall of 2021, I launched From the West, excited to have my two passion projects collide—as I had the craft of Island Woodwork (and my talented Dad) to thank for the beautiful pieces that fill our rental collection.
Since starting my first business, I knew that the role of being an entrepreneur would always fuel me. I loved the space it gave me to be creative, the opportunities it gave me to connect with like-minded and talented people, and of course, the fact that I was able to provide others with so much happiness with every order we fulfilled.
My hope for From The West is to continue to be a source of joy—this time in the form of our one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted pieces, in whatever role that they play on your special day. Whether you’re celebrating a wedding, engagement, birthday, or self-love, I’m here to help you tell your story and create new memories with our timeless pieces.
Sustainability
When we launched From The West, it was important to us to incorporate sustainable practices, similar to those of our sister company, Island Woodwork. Sustainability is a really big passion of our Founder, Zoya, and this passion played a huge role in the creation of our intentionally designed rental collection.
In an industry like that of the event world, which has the potential to create a lot of unnecessary waste, it was really important for Zoya to be able to offer a sustainable alternative for those seeking it.
We made our rental pieces with extra time and care to ensure they were durable enough to last for multiple seasons and stand up against the elements year-round. It was also important to us to have our pieces act as a blank slate—giving our renters the option to personalize them with their own decor, colours, and florals, so they could make it their own. We wanted to make sure there was an accessible option on the market for those who were seeking timeless and unique pieces, while still making them available for multiple uses and occasions.
